Anticipate severe congestion at West Coast ports.
Due to the ongoing strike, many shippers and carriers have shifted their freight to West Coast ports. However, these ports are operating at maximum capacity, leading to rapid congestion.
Be aware that freight heading to East and Gulf Coast ports will face severe delays.
The ongoing ILA strike has brought operations to a halt at container ports along the East and Gulf Coasts, from Maine to Texas. Major ports are significantly impacted. For the latest updates, please visit the websites of these port cities.
Consider air freight for time-sensitive shipments.
For time-critical, sensitive, or high-value shipments, air freight is often the most suitable option. Freight forwarders can coordinate transportation between airports and seamlessly connect with ground transportation, ensuring swift pickup and delivery to your warehouses.
Utilize intermodal and ground transportation for your landed cargo.
Carrier capacity is expected to be in high demand. This may lead to increased rates and transportation delays. Aries operates FTZ warehouses, including our Santa Teresa facility near the Mexico border, to assist with receiving, storing, or consolidating your shipments.
Postpone shipping your freight until the strike is over.
To avoid disruptions caused by the ongoing ILA negotiations, it is recommended to postpone shipping your freight until after the strike is resolved. Any shipments departing after September 20th may experience significant delays due to strike-related disruptions.
